Who We Are

Richard & Susan Schmaltz

Since 1999, Richard and Susan Schmaltz have  travelled and lived in  Guatemala to serve in a variety of endeavours. Most of their work has revolved around establishing child-centered education for  Guatemalan children, and care of the most vulnerable.

Their programs have been successful and continue to grow and evolve.

In 2011, the Circle of Oneness, was formed to aid Richard and Susan.  The circle is made up of individuals who have worked with the Schmaltzes in the Ottawa Valley and/or in Guatemala. Some of our Circle are retired educators, others retired from government and nursing, and all of us have been on Service Teams to Guatemala. The Circle meets regularly in support of Oneness Through Service – Guatemala.

In 2011 we also formed a partnership with Horizons of Friendship , a Canadian NGO based in Cobourg, ON, which coordinates projects throughout Mesoamerica. Horizons administers The Oneness Fund for us (found under the pull down menu Fund/Designation: on the link) and provides tax receipts for donations in support of our programs. This partnership will allow for expanded service of Oneness projects in Guatemala.
